Live edge furniture has a way of bringing nature into a home without feeling forced. When done well, it feels warm, sculptural, and permanent — not trendy.

At Simon Silver Designs, we build custom live edge furniture for clients throughout Santa Cruz County, Monterey Bay, Carmel, Pebble Beach, Los Gatos, and the San Francisco Bay Area. Each piece is designed around the slab, the room, and the client’s vision.

What Is Live Edge Furniture?

Live edge furniture keeps the natural edge of the wood visible. Instead of cutting every line perfectly straight, the design allows the tree’s original shape, grain, and movement to become part of the finished piece.

This works especially well for:

  • Dining tables

  • Coffee tables

  • Console tables

  • Benches

  • Desks

  • Entry tables

  • Statement furniture pieces

The result is furniture that feels organic, one-of-a-kind, and connected to the material.

Designed for High-End Homes and Natural Interiors

Live edge furniture works beautifully in coastal California homes because it pairs well with natural light, stone, plaster, glass, steel, and simple architectural spaces.

Clients in places like Carmel, Pebble Beach, Los Gatos, Santa Cruz, Atherton, Woodside, and Mill Valley often want furniture that feels refined but not sterile. A well-built live edge piece can bring warmth and character into a clean modern home.

Custom Furniture From Santa Cruz County

Simon Silver Designs is based in the Watsonville / Santa Cruz County area and builds custom furniture for homeowners, designers, contractors, and architects throughout the Central Coast and Bay Area.

Whether you are looking for a live edge dining table, walnut console table, redwood slab table, or custom furniture piece, we can help turn the right piece of wood into something lasting.

Built With Real Wood and Careful Proportions

A good live edge piece is not just about finding a dramatic slab. It needs the right proportions, the right base, the right thickness, and a finish that protects the wood while keeping it natural.

At Simon Silver Designs, each piece is considered from start to finish:

  • Slab selection

  • Flattening and shaping

  • Edge cleanup

  • Base design

  • Sanding and finish

  • Delivery and installation planning

The goal is to create furniture that feels strong, elegant, and built for long-term use.

We could not be more pleased with our kitchen table that he fashioned from a Pepper tree that we had to take down after it died.
